The prestigious award named after Domenico Danzuso – great journalist, historian and theater critic Caroline, who died in 2000 – reaches this year its thirteenth Edition. It renews the tribute that the city of Catania offers one of the most important personalities that have marked the cultural panorama of Etna in the second half of the 20th century. The initiative, strongly supported over the years by Lina Parker Danzuso, wife of the famous critic and godmother of the event, is dedicated to leading figures in the world of musical theatre and drama, paying tribute to both passions of "Uncle Kitty".

To receive recognition for today's Corporate Edition Lucia Poli (career), Luca Lai and Guia Jelo for section of prose, Carlo Colombara and Vadim Pavlov for the music section. The award ceremony is scheduled on Monday 1 December at the Teatro Verga, alle ore 20.30; free admission subject to availability. The event is sponsored by Lions Club Catania Catania, Host Society friends of music and Theater, with the support of the city of Catania.

The coveted lifetime achievement award will be presented to the actress Lucia Polion the scene of the most important national theatres for over forty years. After its debut in the early 1970s, often paired with his brother Paul, another great name of Italian theater, began to write their own texts ushering in a very personal theatrical style, characterised by a subtle irony and a fine satirical vein. Eclectic personality and performer of extraordinary skill, he also worked for film and television and as a voice actress.

For the section of music, will win the prize down Carlo Colombara, which in over twenty years of career he worked with the most important operatic scene directors – including Riccardo Muti, Georges Prêtre, Riccardo Chailly, Sir Colin Davis – performing in the most prestigious theaters in the world (La Scala in Milan, Covent Garden in London, the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Metropolitan Opera, Arena di Verona, Colón in Buenos Aires, San Carlo in Naples, Real Madrid Liceu of Barcelona). The public will have the opportunity to listen Etna in a few days, since 4 December, on the stage of the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania Attila by Giuseppe Verdi.

Always in the music industry will be rewarded Vadim Pavlovnative, formed in Leningrad, where he was principal cellist of the Chamber musical theater. Thanks to a brilliant international career, Pavlov plays since 1999 the role of principal cellist at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania. Crowd favorite, in the town of volcano is also artistic director of the International Festival of Chamber Music "Belliniadi".

Yet for the section of prose, will be rewarded Luke LaiSun 24 Hours recently, called "the highest Shakespearean interpreter in decades", thanks to his masterful performance in "Antony and Cleopatra". Lai reconciles the commitment to acting under the artistic direction of the Festival della Versiliana.

A specific award for dedication to the tradition of their land will Guia Jelo, at ease on stage as on the big and small screen. The winners were selected by a panel of high-level, consisting of Jack Fernandez, President of the Lions Club Catania Hosts of which Danzuso was a long time member and President; Joseph Montemagno, President of Scam; Joseph Dipasquale, Director of the Teatro Stabile di Catania. the Director Maurizio Scaparro and critic Andrew Baksh. The evening, coordinated organisation from Vittoria Naples, will be entrusted to conduct Navy Cosentino.

Lucia Poli will receive a sculpture of Dino Cunsolo, which in turn will allocate the amount paid by the Lions to the scholarship that will be awarded to a student of the Academy of fine arts of Catania.
