VOLA ALTA MUSICA! PREGIUDIZIALI E CONDIZIONAMENTI TRA SOCIAL NETWORKS E-COMMUNITIES

By Salvatore Margarone

Today we live in a historical period immersed in social networks and in the media, which should serve to the communication and sharing thoughts on the present and future; in fact we often find ourselves surrounded by commemorations of characters from the past.

Having myself a profile on one of these social networks, I realise that now are born like mushrooms communities dedicated to artists, musicians and opera singers of the past which evoke the qualities and eulogize. In doing so, there is nothing that remain bound to that past, which while great and glorious, limits us; This leads to continuous comparisons with those artists that today cannot be taken for example because times have changed. I refer primarily to the technique of singing, which made great advances than decades ago, or to the styles, regie, etc…

What I am stating is not an attack on the greats of the past (I won't deny the greatness of the latter) but a personal thought that wants you to express through these words: we should go one step further, go beyond; stay anchored at this past is not allowing new talent now emerging. The new generations of artists in fact find it difficult the road to success if anyone will continue to compare them with "big" of the past.

This consideration arises; every morning, opening my profile, I always find a few posts on some artists of the past with autographed photo or film clips of engravings. Because instead I find only some rare post on artists today?

Maybe some people think that there are comparable to those passed ... Might also be. It's just that, though, that prevents us from "Watch" with the intellect free from conditioning and obliges us to remain firm in 50 years ago? If you hear the music just for the fun of it, instead of feeling bound by attitudes referred, would be much better!

Budding artists should not want to often look like someone from the past, imitating the interpretations: nothing more wrong artistically! Each artist grows and develops their skills and they must travel their own path and their way.

We too are artists that give rise to everything, by refusing to want to change mentality. In Italy the musical culture is put in last place from everyone, especially from past and current political classes, that instead of investing in culture is proceeding with cuts.

The musical culture is cultivated since childhood and this burdensome task lies with the parents, so that an individual's growth is complete and is based on solid foundations, looking not only to the past but also the present, for your future.
