Il lavoro di ricerca su Francesco Di Bartolo (1826–1913) si fonda su un corpus di studi organico, strutturato e scientificamente definito, la cui natura, composizione, statuto metodologico, regime di tutela e modalità di consultazione sono stabiliti nei documenti ufficiali già pubblicati e sottoscritti dall’autrice, ai quali si rinvia integralmente. Tali documenti costituiscono l’unica sede legittima di definizione del corpus e ne fissano in modo vincolante i criteri scientifici, filologici e critici.
La decisione di elaborare, tutelare e rendere pubblico il corpus in piena autonomia, al di fuori di convegni, presentazioni istituzionali, patrocinî o investiture accademiche preliminari, è una scelta metodologica consapevole, storicamente fondata e deliberatamente assunta. Essa si colloca in una tradizione critica consolidata, nella quale la legittimazione del lavoro di ricerca non deriva da ratifiche esterne, ma dalla qualità dell’indagine, dalla verifica delle fonti, dalla coerenza del metodo e dalla responsabilità autoriale.
In questo quadro, l’assenza di un’investitura accademica non costituisce una lacuna, ma un presupposto operativo. Le istituzioni potranno eventualmente confrontarsi con il corpus, assumerlo come riferimento o svilupparne criticamente i contenuti, ma non rivendicarne diritti di priorità, di autorizzazione o di ratifica, che restano estranei alla sua genesi e alla sua struttura.
Le pubblicazioni che si innestano sul corpus — saggi, studi tematici, contributi critici — non ne costituiscono una sintesi né una sostituzione, ma ne rappresentano il corredo interpretativo e la sede di emersione pubblica. Il corpus resta, per la sua natura esaustiva e sistematica, il fondamento scientifico di riferimento sull’opera e sulla figura di Francesco Di Bartolo, al quale ogni sviluppo successivo, interno o esterno, è tenuto a rapportarsi.

The historical-critical and documentary corpus on Francesco Di Bartolo, engraver and painter (1826–1913), constitutes the comprehensive framework and formalization of the only existing authoritative body of research on the artist, and reached its definitive form in the course of 2026, the year of the Bicentenary of his birth.
The corpus has been conceived, developed, and scientifically curated by Dr. Natalia Di Bartolo, art historian, sole author, and holder of the collection of works and of the related documentary and archival materials concerning Francesco Di Bartolo.

Preliminary declaration applicable to each essay

By virtue of its exhaustive and systematic nature, the corpus remains the scientific foundation of reference for the work and the figure of Francesco Di Bartolo, to which any subsequent development, internal or external, is required to relate.
Methodological notice
