In 1573, September 29 – for some, the 28 – was born in Lombardy, one of the greatest Italian painters of the seventeenth century: Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, artist who marked a turning point not only in Italian art, but in that of the whole of Europe.
To celebrate the great painter, on her birthday, was created by the natural history Museum of the University of Florence the interesting project “Caravaggio: from reality to the painting, "to the forefront in the bulwarks literary Café Florence right on September 29, 2015.12033163_10153323308578020_6821887005079247182_n

The idea of this project began by the establishment of the Video Workshop for Design and architecture in the Department of architecture at the University of Florence DIDA.

The project and the Organization are edited by Marcello Scalzo: “Caravaggio is an artist who appeals to you, gets you, excites you. Its intense realism, the drama of his characters, the vibrant atmosphere present in his works, make one of the greatest artists in the history of Michelangelo Merisi, Italian and European art: you can't remain indifferent to his work when you start them and study them.

The project "Caravaggio: from reality to painting" wants to investigate the compositional aspects of the painted large Lombard painter: the characters, environments, customs, perspective, light.

We wanted to involve in the project our assistants and students: all videos see our active participation in the various stages of the execution video, boys, from the preparation stage, videos/cameras to editing, that is, all operations that precede the magic moment taken conclusive. A team effort, a synergic operation, as it should happen in all research carried out in universities.”
