“The Bilbao Association of friends of the Opera OLBE-ABAOwith the support and sponsorship of the Fundación REPSOL, promotes their social activity integrating culture, education and solidarity, in an extensive program of activities to bring the music and opera to the University Hospital de CrucesHealth Reference Center.
This month of October begins, fruit of a long gestation, an extensive cultural and social programme is multiannual, which comprises more than 60 activities initially intended both for adults as for children as well as their families.
The project stems from the view that ABAO and Fundación Repsol share of art and culture as a common good for all of society, that allows to develop the imagination, the autonomy and the full inclusion of all people with abilities and different circumstances. It is from this joint idea about the power of music as a tool for social integration and personal growth, where ABAO part for the creation of a social program, which has the endorsement of educational and health professionals of the Hospital Universitario Fundación Repsol and crosses.
The project “Opera and ” It has been designed by specialists abao, aiming to contribute to the emotional well-being of patients and families through the knowledge and enjoyment of music in general and Opera in particular and will be taught by experts in pedagogy and music.
The programme aimed at adult Nephrology patients and their families, aims to contribute to the process of chronic disease management, providing pleasant experiences and the exchange of experiences related to music and opera. Includes activities both within the hospital, with talks linked ABAO opera season, as well as outside the hospital with visits to backstage and attendance at trials and opera performances.
In Pediatrics, the objective is to help the normalization of the lives of children by providing expertise in the discipline of music and opera through workshops and various didactic and multimedia tools within the hospital; and out of the hospital with attending trials and operas of the season Abao Txiki.
Finally, in the area of infants is finalizing a programme to influence positively, sensory and environmental level to alleviate the noise stress in neonatal units and provide a favorable environment in the moment in which the emotional bond between parents and children is being established.”
